Locally installed or Remotely hosted business databases

A business database system can operate as an application installed on suitable server in the user’s premises or hosted on a Quinata server in a data centre, with access from broadband connected anywhere.

A locally hosted system is the most appropriate solution for larger systems, if there is an existing suitable server or a desire to store all data in house. It may also be more appropriate if there is a need to interface to other business systems.

If required it is possible to provide remote access to a locally hosted system, providing it is possible to configure the local network access to allow this.

Locally installed software

A remote hosted system is suitable where there is no existing server or where it is desired to outsource responsibility for support, backups, security, etc.

With a remotely hosted system users of the system will require to download a connection program, which can be run on any Windows PC to access the system for the first time. On subsequent occasions running the previously downloaded program will connect to the system. If required it is possible to configure access from Mac, iPad or Android platforms.

Whichever approach is used all data will be stored on the server, with no data transferred to the users’ PCs. This ensures that central control can be maintained over all data, ensure security from loss or misuse.
